Two Sisters
In 2008, sisters Sandy Patag and Arlene Clattenberg (née Patag) got together to start a business. Their goal? To spend more time with family, give back to the community, and show their kids what’s possible when you dream big and work hard.
While brainstorming on what type of business to start, they thought back fondly to picnics in the park: gathering over a family meal cooked with love by their moms and aunties, wrapped up with a tantalizing treat like ube bread: a cake-like Philippine dessert made of purple yam.
One Dream
And so, Sandy and Arlene with their parents and partners; cousins and children built In the Mix: a frozen yogurt shop in Poway, CA. Named for their wish to gather a “mix” of people, In the Mix would serve as a meeting place for the community to come together, feel welcome, and mix up “edible art” as unique as the maker.
Today, we’re proud to offer the classics you can’t get enough of, and one-of-a-kind flavors you won’t find anywhere else: from chocolate and vanilla to lotus cookie, honeydew, and — you guessed it — ube.

I love that I am part of something our family created. From grandpa to our baby boy (he’s 11y years old now 😳), they’ve all contributed in some way. Together we created, built, and continue to grow In The Mix.
My all time favorite flavor is Tart with strawberries, mango, a little granola. When I’m feeling crazy I’ll put some mochi!

Been there since day one, over 13 years! My favorite thing about ITMY is getting to meet new people and watching them enjoy our yogurt. It’s really cool when they become regulars and we actually become friends. I love that our employees keep the shop clean. They are so friendly and always greet customers as they enter the shop! Especially Sage!
My favorite combo is Ube and coconut swirl with shredded coconut.
